Easter 2016

Easter is the only holiday where we have to work the next day.....I think that needs to change! I remember having Easter Monday off, as a kid. What happened to that?

We started off with goodie baskets for Cam and Louise's teachers. We just put some stuff in there to help them through the day - chapstick, hand lotion, Crystal Light, mints and candy. I would have thrown some liquor in there, if I wouldn't have gotten in trouble!

Friday night, Chad and I went on a triple date, which was MUCH needed and obviously long overdue since I was USELESS on Saturday. I didn't feel bad, but I was SO TIRED. I cannot hang like I used to! Chad made some meatballs for dinner on Saturday, and we were both fast asleep by 9. #lame

Sunday morning, Cam woke up searching for his Easter basket. He was so excited to see that he got the "bubble bachine" he's been wanting! He also loved his Goggles, although he's a little skeptical since he can't breathe out of his nose!

Poor Louise didn't get a basket, but she obviously didn't care since Cam shared his bunny ears with her!

We went to church with my Dad, and they had a ton of stuff for kids: a bounce house, horses, cookie making and a piƱata. Cam was not too keen on us leaving him, so Chad stayed while he rode the horse, then we got a text during cookie making that Cam was ready to come back. He actually did fairly well, in the service, but I am hoping that he stays int he preschool during future trips.

Louise did a fairly good job, too, but I am hoping to stick in her in the baby room next time! There was just SO MUCH going on this time that I didn't even attempt to try that!

After church, we drove to Kittery for lunch at Robert's. This is the best family picture we got:

We got some oysters, brussel sprouts, haddock and steak. Louise loved the fries, of course, and Cam chowed on some mac & cheese with ketchup. A few glasses of wine may have been consumed, too, since Cam decided to be a little sh*t...he didn't even have that much sugar, but he was WOUND UP.

Thankfully, both kids fell asleep on the way home, and when they woke up, they had some new toys from LouLou!

It was such a great weekend, and we think that spring is finally here to stay.

Oh yeah, Louise turned TEN months on Sunday! Time to get that party planning in motion!

Spring Cleaning & Organization Printables {and a giveaway}

Since it's officially spring, we are going to talk about some SPRING CLEANING! Aren't you excited?? Bueller...Bueller...Anyone?

I am not a fan of cleaning, but there's something about spring cleaning...while drinking loads of coffee that turns into wine...that gets me excited.
Does anyone else get more productive when they drink?

Anyways, I digress...

I am not sure what we did before Pinterest, but I am sure we spent more time actually DOING stuff than sitting online pinning things to do. ;) However, printables are one thing that I actually use from Pinterest, so I turned there when looking for some good cleaning printable to start my spring cleaning.

Bekah has some great printables to help you create your own schedule and checklist. Fill in the things you need to do daily, weekly or monthly, and check them off as you go! This is a definite must in our house, although I created my own version on notecards to fill out each week, but these are a great base to start with. (She has three to choose from!) Some other ladies, in this linkup, have some great detailed schedules and checklists, so check them out!

***Leah created her own FREE printable! Go grab it (and her other amazing products) here!

Joanie has some great recipes to make your own cleaning supplies at home. I am kind of lazy when it comes to this, but I when I take the time to make some cleaning products, I am way happier with them than the store bought ones.

(Becky has a lot more recipes, too, for cleaning with lemons and vinegar, which is something I love to do!!)

After you've MADE your products, you have to label them so you don't use your dishwasher detergent in your washing machine...that would not be good! Ashley has some really cute labels you can print!

And, who doesn't love a good challenge? A 52-week challenge to clean your home. I may have to tackle this...next year! ;)

This may be my favorite printable, as we have just started giving Cam an "allowance" for cleaning! We're going to get a clean house, and Cam's going to start buying his own toys. #winning

***Check out Sara's post for some great ideas on cleaning with toddlers!

Once you have all of the handy printables, schedules, and checklists printed, you can put them in a beautiful binder...and there are a million more printables on this link.

So, there you have it...be sure to check out these other ladies to find out everything you need to do some serious spring cleaning and enter to win some cleaning goodies below!

Louise James: Ten Months

Clothes // growing out of 9 months; bringing out the 12 month clothes and pajamas
Shoes // Size 1 still
(almost into size 2 - the shoes above lasted for about three minutes before they fell of)
Diapers // Size 3/4 (depending on brand)
Teeth // 5! Your top left fang came in on 3/20

Sleeping //
Well, well....my little angel. You were sleeping so well until you got a cold, and you started waking 2-3 (or 4 or 5) times a night and would only nap if I was holding you (which I honestly loved). Luckily, we did a couple nights of sleep training again, and you are back to your old self of sleeping from 7 - 5, eating, then going back down until 6/630. You nap at 9 and 1, at home, but day care is lucky if they get two-30 minute naps. There's just too much going on there for you to sleep peacefully. Our little social butterfly, you are....

Eating //
You LOVE very few things and won't try most. We took you off most food for about a week because you were not going #2. It didn't seem to help, so I started putting in some foods that had some fiber, but you were a-ok with just the bottle. We are back to waffles, Pirate Booty, yogurt, applesauce, oranges, apples, Cheerios, chicken and turkey. Apparently you like blueberry muffins, because you stole Nora's at school! Oh, and you love peanut butter! We left with you with LouLou for an hour and got a snapshot of pictures of you licking pb off a spoon...the apple doesn't fall far from the tree!

Your new trick...no hands!

Playing //
You love books that have texture - the books where animals have "fur" or "bumps" or something...you love them. The Lamaze Peek-a-Boo book is your new favorite...you love lifting the flaps! You love your Activity Table but are not a fan of your exersaucer anymore. We put it downstairs, in the playroom, so you don't mind being in it every now and then, but you'd prefer to put all of Cameron's matchbox cars and puzzle pieces in your mouth. You also got a LP Music Riding Toy from LouLou, for Easter, and you LOVE it. You would not stop squealing (even when your brother pulled out the bubble machine)!

Talking //
You say Mama and Dada and have started saying "uh oh" when you throw drop something,  like your sippy cup or any food we put on your high chair, on the ground. I've been trying to teach you the sign for "all done" but I think you just say it to me...Daddy thinks you're a genius!

Moving //
You are a speed crawler and want to walk oh-so-badly! You get on all fours (feet and hands) constantly, but you can't stand up. When you stand, holding onto something, you let go and stay upright for a few seconds, before landing on your bum. You pull up on EVERYTHING - the couch, tables, chairs, the backs of my legs while I'm putting on mascara....You are also a stair climber now. Here we go!

Milestones and Developments //
I put a bow in your hair for the first time! It was a tiny bow, and a tiny bit of hair, but it worked! You are starting to swipe at bows (both clips and on bands), but I hope you always let me put them in!

You shake your head no and think it's the funniest thing ever!

You also think it's super funny to throw your cup off your high chair and say "uh oh!"

You wave when someone waves to you, and my heart melts watching your tiny fingers move, oh-so-slowly.

You have started to get really frightened when someone seems aggressive - either verbally or physically. If anyone yells in a not-nice way or plays too rough (aka, everytime Cam wrestles with someone), you get so upset and quite protective of the person!

You are not a fan of the vacuum. When we pull it out, you just stare at it for a few minutes, like it's someone who killed your best friend. When it comes on, we have to hold you!

You are riding IN the Bob stroller...not in your car seat. You think it's the best thing ever, and it makes me super excited to get you a toddler car seat!

You have started to cuddle with us when you're tired...if we put your "lovey" on our shoulder, your head immediately follows. I get weak at the knees every single time you do this!

Health //
You got the cold that was going around our house and had a hard time drinking from the bottle, so you started waking during the night to eat (see above, in case you missed that memo). You also had a rash on the front and back of your diaper area, so you were on two prescriptions that helped! You stopped pooping, so we added some mineral oil to your bottles (this didn't really help, so I stopped because I think it's weird to give you mineral oil!) Then, you started pooping green water (TMI?), and that lasted for a few days but ended quickly. I think I threw away four pairs of pants and two shirts because #ew. Now, you are a healthy, happy baby again!

Adventures //
We went to Chuck E Cheese because Cameron is finally potty trained, visited Sofia and Luca, we had a dinner party (where you were the center of attention, of course), you celebrated your first St Patrick's Day and Easter.

Your brother still adores you, as you do him. He can do no wrong in your book - whether he throws your paci, steps on your hand or takes away a toy, you keep going back for more. He likes to put you in headlocks. (He calls them hugs.) You like to help him change his iPad game, when he doesn't want to! You both get overly possessive when the other invades your time with me, and I secretly love it.

Your hair is coming in so much, and it's definitely a brown color. Cam had the lightest color of blonde, at your age, and I assumed you would, too! Your eyes are the most beautiful dark blue, and your fingers and toes are still teeny-tiny.

This smile is my absolute favorite...it usually comes as the result of your Daddy walking in the room, but I get to enjoy it, too!

Between your eyes, your smile and your demeanor, you have everyone wrapped around your finger. Your Daddy, Papa, brother, strangers...ME! Nobody can get enough. I cannot believe you are almost ONE - you have brought so much joy to our lives, and I am so, so excited already to watch you grow into a walking, talking toddler. I am definitely not wishing away time, but I enjoy you so much that I already know the rest of our lives together is going to full of smiles, love and laughter.

FIve on Friday: Hits and Misses

Happy Friday!! I am hoping that today's ICE storm (Isn't it spring?) is the last of the season, so we can officially welcome spring this weekend!

Here are a few of my recent hits and misses (mostly purchases, obviously!)

HIT //
Sara's post about Geocatching has me itching to go...has anyone else done it? I think Cam would love "winning" by finding the items. (Everything's a competition to him!) Her detailed explanation makes it seem so easy, and she even told me that they stop while driving sometimes, if there's a "catch" nearby! So fun!

Kristen Cavalarri's new book is the first book I have bought in YEARS. I always borrow them from friends or take them out from the library (that is, when I actually take the time to read). But this one, I thought, would look great next to my favorite book of womenly advice, The EveryGirl's Guide to Life (GO BUY IT), so I grabbed it.

Then I returned it because she basically bashes moms who use store-bought formula (and doesn't make their own, if not breastfeeding), gives make-up advice on how to apply fake lashes, one-by-one and shows her shoe closet perfectly organized with Louboutains. Clearly, I can't relate.

HIT and MISS //
So, Target's having BOGO 50% off Merona pieces, so I grabbed two dresses: one for our dinner date tonight and one for Easter. Let's just say I'm all set for Easter, but I'll be throwing on an old outfit for tonight.

I knew when I bought this dress, that I would be returning it. You have to be 5'11" and 120 lbs to look good in it. Otherwise, you look like a mid-30s mom who can't lose the baby weight.

I have to be honest, when I bought this dress, I thought it would be going back, too, but I actually like it. However, it's totally in my comfort zone, and I look like a mid-30s mom/teacher, but that's ok. I think that means I'll get more use out of it!

I snuck up to the JCrew Factory Store yesterday, since they have 50% off most stuff and grabbed a few "handsome" pieces for Cam - that's what he calls his dress up clothes!

I grabbed these shoes and this belt for Easter and about died when he tried them on last night!

I hope you all have a great weekend! We have a triple date tonight (whoop whoop) and some Easter fun this weekend!! I can't wait to give Cam his Easter basket and see them both in their outfits!

The St Patrick's Day Bust

St. Patrick's Day was so awesome!

We woke up at 6, had green beer and bagels for breakfast, then drank all day until we passed out after a corned beef sandwich dinner.

Oh wait, that was college, and we're really lame now.

We did go to an Italian bar the night before, and I dressed Louise in Cam's old shirt. She got so freaking excited when my dad walked in the door that I thought she was going to fall over!

On St Patrick's morning, I bribed Cam with candy for breakfast, so he would take a picture with Louise. Clearly, the bribe worked because he would not let go of her!
She loved it...really.

Then he asked me to take a picture of his butt.

Then we put Louise in our handy PBK chair, where she usually sits still enough for pictures. Of course, there was hardly any natural light, and the flash ruined every picture, so this is the best I could do!

Cam reeeeeeally want that candy!

Immediately after this picture (and a solid 15 minutes of trying to get something decent), she had a blow out in her car seat, I had to throw away the pants, and she didn't get to wear her shirt. She wore pink on St Patrick's Day. The shame.

For dinner, I think we had chicken tenders and brussel sprouts, no green beer and no corned beef. There's always next year....

And just for fun, here's Cameron's past St Patrick's Days!
