Louise James: Seven Months

Height: 26"
Weight: 16 pounds
Clothes: 6 - 9 months; 9 months
Shoes: Size 1 still
Diapers: Size 3 and Size 6 at night!
Teeth: still 2 bottom teeth...we're waiting on the top 2!

Sleeping: We are in a total sleep regression right now. We did some sleep training before Christmas to get you in your crib, and that has stuck. However, your naps are shorter, and you are waking so many times during the night. I tried more sleep training to get you to sleep through the night, and you just screamed for two hours (for two nights) until I fed you. So, you go down around 7, wake at 9/10 for your paci then wake at 12/1 for a bottle then 3, 4, 5 and 6...it's awesome. (I'll sleep someday!) We've been spending a lot of time sleeping in your recliner, together, but I kinda LOVE it.

For naps, they are hit or miss...we are averaging an hour, which is ok. BUT, you are only napping twice (usually), so you are READY for bed at 7.

Eating: We have started Baby Led Weaning, and you've tried carrots, banana, avocado and crackers. I am not sure if any of it has made it into your stomach, but you are enjoying it! You are chugging bottles like crazy, so I definitely want to incorporate more real food into your diet. Hopefully this will help with your sleeping, too?? I can only hope...

Playing: You love your exersaucer because you can jump like a maniac. You love anything that lights up or makes noise. And everything goes in your mouth. You got spoiled at Christmas with lots of new teethers, balls and this cool little Musical Farm Cube! Sophie is still a favorite of yours, but the remote and my phone becoming top contenders.

If your brother is in the room, you are happy. You LOVE him. He knows it, too, and will help distract you if you get fussy for a second...it's adorable, and I'm continually amazed by how sweet he is to you! (More on that in another post...)

"Sharing" his iPad with you (but showing you who's boss)

Health: We (finally) got your six month shots on 12/18. You cried a little, took a nap and were fine! No side effects. You've been fairly healthy otherwise (knock on wood). You are still taking acid reflux medicine (Famotidine), which is a miracle-worker.

Milestones: You are sitting like a champ (and feel quite proud, I think), but you aren't rolling over. You can roll over, but you rarely do. You are quite content when we change you (thankfully) and when we lay you down, you just stare at the ceiling. You are SUCH a chill baby now, and we LOVE it. After reading Cam's seven month update, you are quite behind him, developmentally. I think we are so busy, and you are so content just sitting, that we don't work on standing, crawling and rolling over with you. #secondchildproblems. Seriously, we try, but you have no interest (or muscles). I am not worried...I kind of like you staying in one place! You can also sit in a high chair, at a restaurant...I think the shopping cart is next!

Adventures: December was full of Christmas and birthday fun. You helped me celebrate my 33rd birthday with our Thursday night rager (although you napped/slept through all of it) and had a play date with Jada, saw Santa for the first time, helped us decorate for Christmas, hosted your first Christmas Eve Eve Party and had your first Christmas morning. I think it was a pretty fun month!

You start your morning sitting in your Bumbo on Daddy's desk while he starts his work day. You'll sit there forever, just listening to music and watching Daddy...sometimes, we can get 30 - 40 minutes!

You also love to sit on the couch with us. We pile some of your toys on your lap/around you, and you just SIT. Cameron NEVER did this, so we love the down time!!

You get scared so easily by a loud noise (sneezing, a loud man's voice out of nowhere, etc). Your bottom lip curls and quivers and it's a totally different cry than anything else.

You have started to become attached to me. If I put you down and walk away (especially with someone else), you let out this sad cry like I'm deserting you. You let me leave you fine at day care, but when I come back in the afternoon, I can't gather your stuff before picking you up anywhere or you let us all know you're upset!

The look in your eye when you see Cameron

We call this your "denture" face...we DIE laughing every time!

Kids LOVE you, especially Avery! She always asks if you can sit on her lap!

Baths are an adventure...an hour long one. You LOVE it!

Those cheeks...we are still wondering if your chin will ever grow down or if it will continue to be smooshed into your face. Either way, you're BEAUTIFUL!

Christmas Morning

Louisey, Weez, Weezy, Pumpkin....you make life GREAT. I was so afraid, before you arrived, that I wouldn't be able to give up my love for Cameron. And I haven't...it's just grown. You are the most perfect piece to our crazy family puzzle.

Your eyes. Your smile. Your laughs. They make me feel unworthy.

Cameron's Seven Month Post

Merry Christmas, Love the Scotts (and Tom Brady)

Love, The Scott

Thanks to Jillian for creating a perfect Christmas card for us, and thanks to Chad for picking out our outfits and writing the back. I got off easy this year! ;)

Drunk Santa, Sleep Training and CHRISTMAS

This past weekend was one with little plans but ended up being awesome.
Mostly because we got to meet Drunk Santa, in person.

No, Cameron...Santa doesn't usually act like that. He must be drunk tired!

Cam asked for a Tonka Truck...Santa promised him three. THANKS.

Even Louise knew something was a little fishy...

Have I ever mentioned how FUN dressing a girl is??

Should I cry or laugh because I'm so tired?

Little comparison of Cam (2012) and Louise (2015)

"Baby" Brooklyn (I don't think she'll ever lost that name) and Louise...I think someone wants a little sister!

Oh yeah, they had a full bar. Maybe this is why Santa was a bit tipsy? As were we...I think I was hungover around 8:00 pm. Merry Christmas season!

For real, we went to a super fun event for kids at a local club...some people go to country clubs. We go to gentlemen's clubs turned family clubs. There was cookie decorating, stocking color and Santa visiting. Yes, Santa was a big over-promising on the toys and a little over-feeling on the moms. Whatever...I'd drink, too, if I had to wear that costume for three hours!

Oh yeah, we also sleep trained (so Louise is finally sleeping in her crib full-time) and sat in a high chair at a restaurant for the first time. Exciting stuff!!

We also started getting ready for our annual Christmas Eve Eve party....furniture was moved, glasses were washed and food was ordered! Let the cooking and festivities begin! This my FAVORITE week of the year!!

Friday Favorites

HAPPY FRIDAY! The past two weeks have been a bit of a blur...meetings (and meetings and meetings), illnesses, Christmas stuff and just life. I am happy to see the weekend here and to only have to work two days next week! Here are a few things that I am loving lately!

Y'all...go buy this perfume from JCrew. For yourself. Your friend. Your kid's teacher. It smells so good, and it's $6 in stores and $5 online!

The new Dr Brown's nipples are amazing. They say the level number in huge print ON the nipple, so you don't have to tilt the darn thing at just the right angle to be able to see the level anymore. And, the suction part just stays...you don't have to push your finger around the entire thing to make sure it doesn't leak. Better late than never...

My mom and I went to Sephora to get some make-up tips, and we left with some great products. I am NOT a make-up wearer nor do I know anything about make-up except that I don't know how to put it on, so I am pretty excited to be the owner of some fancy stuff. I got Nars Tinted Moisturizer, Bare Minerals Stroke of Light Eye Brightener, Sephora Eye Shadow Pencil, Too Faced Bulletproof Brows (my favorite purchase), and Tarte Best in Faux Lash Extending Fibers (to replace my Younique mascara).

Next up is a primer...any suggestions?

Too Faced Bulletproof Browns - best purchase ever

I forgot about this deodorant, but when I saw it in Sephora, I remembered how much I love it. It smells like baby powder and keeps the sweat and stench away. Love it!

If you need any last minute gift ideas, check out these gift guides...Girl is on point and has everyone covered!

Happy Friday, all!! We are off to see Santa, finally, and make some gifts for the kiddos' teachers...fun weekend!!

Weekending Birthday-Style

This past weekend was so fun that I forgot to take pictures. Thank goodness some other people did, so I can share them with you.

Thursday was my birthday, so we had some family and friends over for pizza and ice cream cake. (Did you know that I've eaten ice cream cake for my birthday since I was born. Seriously.) This Thursday rager lasted until 10:30, and Cam stayed up until everyone was gone. We were both dragging on Friday.

My best girls from high school.....missing Magen in TX!
Lolo and Justin...newly engaged love birds.
Uncle Justin with Cam and Brooklyn. The Toddler-Whisperer

Self-timing ourselves was a bit challenging...love my family and friends!!

Friday was such a random day....we left the kids at day care until 7:30 for a Parents' Night Out fundraiser, so I didn't have to pick anyone up at 4:30. This meant that I could meet my girlfriends for Happy Hour for the first time in forever

After Happy Hour (and $2 wine), Chad and I went to dinner with my mom and Mickey. Tiqa is always their place of choice, and they were paying, so I didn't say no. They have the most amazing ChicharrĂ³ns - chorizo cured pork belly with fried jalapenos and raisin vinaigrette. I am not normally a fan of pork belly (or Mediterranean), but I could eat 10 servings of these.

Saturday and Sunday, we spent a lot of time cleaning and organizing. Sometimes, we are home-bodies, and that's ok with me!

Chad did pick up a mini Christmas tree for our front steps, and we went to our friends' home so the kids could make their own pizza, watch Polar Express and cook smores in their fire place. Cam was pretty much in heaven, and Louise was a sweet peach, as usual. Of course, Cam was more than pumped when Jackson's dad offered to warm wrestle with both boys at once. BOYS.

We also decorated a little more (some bows here, some candles there), wrapped some presents and watched the Patriots win after two losses in a row...being a Patriots' fan isn't usually this stressful!

After a weekend of a LOT of Cameron time (read: talking and asking and talking and asking), I needed this reminder than another teacher sent to us this morning!

Friday Five

Happy Friday!! What a freaking week...I'm so glad it's Friday, and I am thankful for online shopping so I don't have to fight other drivers for parking spots. Instead, I can stay home, change diapers and sip wine fall asleep by the fire with my handsome husband. (It's a glamorous life!)

Have you all heard the buzz about LuLaRoe? My cousin started selling this line of clothing through Facebook, and I ignored it for so long. But, I finally bit the bullet and purchased this dress (pockets and a visible zipper in the back...cute!) for Christmas. Apparently their leggings are amazing, too,  so I have to look for a pattern I want.

Bad picture. Cute dress! It falls above my knees, so I can't wait to pair it with some black tights and boots? What do you think?

Natasha shared this book, and I ordered it immediately. I love looking back at old pictures and posts, so this will be such a fun way to look back at past Christmases.

Do you think I will lose weight if I follow a strict diet of eating only these? Because I can't stop.

Has anyone read/used this book with success? I can't stop laughing when I read it, so Cam wants me to read it every night. And it's long. So I am not a fan. Anyone have success?

Our GAP is closing.... #firstworldproblems. I rarely shop there because I am lazy and prefer to do it all online, but when I do stop in, I always get great deals like 50% off sale stuff. Apparently, Maine isn't supportive enough, so they are shutting all two stores in entire state. Luckily, we still have the factory. And free shipping online.

Happy Weekend!!

40 BEFORE 40

The big 3-3 is coming up for me (What? Who cares about 33?), and I loved my 30 While 30 List, so I am making a bigger, deeper 40 Before 40 List...I am so excited for some of these things! Some are things that I know will happen, and some are definitely dreams and goals (and may take a little longer than when I turn 40.)

1. Take all four kids to Disneyworld
2. Visit another country in Europe
3. Go on a honeymoon
4. Take a trip to Canada (Toronto? Quebec City? Montreal?)
5. Send Chad on a fishing trip with his brother.
6. Take each kid on a weekend trip (indoor water park, Six Flags, etc)...just them and us!
7. Plan a 40th birthday trip with my girlfriends
8. Go to spring training
9. Go on a weekend trip with my Mom

MONEY (in this order)
1. Pay off credit card debt for good
2. Pay off student loans
3. Invest more into retirement (15% of income)
4. Pay mortgage bi-weekly instead of monthly
5. Buy investment properties in Portland
6. Contribute more money to C & L's 529 accounts
** By the time I'm 40, we will not have any child support or day care expenses!
This will free up so much money to help us accomplish these goals!

1. See James Taylor in concert again
2. Take classes for continuing education credits
3. Take a photography class
4. Continue our tradition of a yearly Patriots' game
5. Continue our tradition of a monthly date on the 15th
6. Start biking
7. Watch every movie on the AFI's top 100 list
8. See Billy Joel at MSG
9. Compete in Tough Mudder or something similar
10. Start skiing as a family

1. Throw a fabulous 50th birthday party for Chad
2. Throw a special 1st birthday for Louise
3. Decide on a school for Cameron
4. Buy (just) four things for each kid every Christmas
5. Baptize both kids
6. Buy a lake house
7. Draw up a will
8. Go to a dermatologist
9. Get a new tattoo (or two)
10. Read more
11. Master and grow our 4th of July and Christmas Eve Eve parties
12. Maintain my weight between 145 - 150 pounds
13. Continue to send snail mail for birthdays and other celebrations
14. Reconnect with Christianity
15. Wear a bikini (confidently)

What would be on YOUR list?

There are so many other things that I want to do, but I know will not be possible to accomplish before I turn 40. These include:
1. Renew our vows (2024 - 10th anniversary) and have a big party in Portland (since we got married in OBX with 14 family members)
2. Go to St John USVI
3. Go to Northwest USA (Seattle, Portland, etc)
4. Buy Chad his dream car - Porsche Carrera
5. Get regular manicures/pedicures
6. Start a tradition of Christmas shopping in NYC with my mom

I love December weekends

I think, regardless of the month or season, I always love our weekends. Spring, summer, fall, Christmas....apparently I love spending time with my friends and family! Shocking.

We hung more Christmas decorations.
A bulb wreath for the front of the house

Our little helper

Cam's playroom quickly became our favorite hangouts spot

We went out to dinner (Macaroni Grill) with my dad on Friday, and Chad cooked on Saturday.

We met the author of Circus Ship and lots of our other favorite books (Chris Van Dusen)
If you have kids, you should buy all of his books...the words are fun and the illustrations are amazing!

We stayed in (matching) pajamas and decorated a gingerbread house on Sunday.

I am never decorating another gingerbread house again! I have zero patience for it! Sorry, kids!

And, we ended the weekend with an adult-only viewing party of the worst Patriots game I've ever seen!! We sent Cam to my dad's and Louise to my mom's, and Chad and I spent three hours at a bar. It was like heaven.

And, in case you can't tell by my awful pictures, I dropped my phone and the camera screen broke. Thankfully, everything else works fine, but I need to get that fixed asap!

I hope you had a great weekend!
